Belleisle Farms Cole Slaw is being recalled in Canada for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. This product was distributed in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island at the retail level. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue.
 

The recalled products is Belleisle Farms Cole Slaw in 227 gram packages. The code on the product is 18SE25 and the UPC number is 0 33383 65260 3. This recall was triggered by the company. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting an investigation. More products may be recalled.
 

If you bought this Belleisle Farms Cole Slaw with the above code and UPC number, don’t eat it. Throw it away in a sealed container so other people and animals can’t eat it. You can also take it back to the place of purchase for a refund.
 

Then clean out your refrigerator, or wherver you stored this product, with a mild bleach solution to kill bacteria. Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can grow at refrigerator temperatures. Use a solution of 1 tablespoon liquid chlorine bleach to 1 gallon of warm water. When you are finished cleaning, wash your hands with soap and water. Also wash your hands thoroughly after you have handled this product.
 

If you ate any of this coleslaw, you should watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. Those symptoms include high fever, stiff neck, severe headache, muscle aches, vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea. Pregnant women may only have a mild illness that seems like the flu, but listeriosis can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, premature labor, and infection in the newborn. If you do feel ill, see your doctor.
