Canadian plant-based meat manufacturer Modern Meat has signed a distribution co-manufacturing agreement with the California-based Real Vision Foods (Real Vision) to further expand its product presence in the US market.

According to the agreement, Real Vision will be producing nearly $25m worth of Modern Meat products annually at its facility.

It will manufacture Modern Meat’s various products, including burgers, crumbles, meatballs and sauces, as well as other items that are currently under development.

Modern Meat CEO Tara Haddad said: “This marks a major milestone for our company as it has been long been a goal to produce and sell our products in the US. We are incredibly excited to launch out of California with an early adopter of plant-based vegan alternatives.

“We feel that by moving to an established team of co-manufacturing, our company is likely to see significant growth in our revenues.”

Real Vision will begin producing Modern Meat’s products from the first quarter of next year.

Real Vision will be manufacturing the products based on demand from Modern Meat’s retail and wholesale partners in the US.

Real Vision Foods president Joseph Ertman said: “Real Vision is excited to support the growth of Modern Meat in its journey to offer white tablecloth – culinary level product quality to consumers throughout the world.

“The company recognises the importance of offering quick-to-market product capabilities for emerging plant-based only brands that reflect is its sustainability-conscious value and aspirations, we look to move very quickly with our partnership as it is a highly prioritised product and will hopefully be in production with Modern Meat within 90 days.”

Last month, Modern Meat signed a distribution agreement with Grey Jay Sales and Distribution to bolster its presence in the ontario market.

Under the agreement, Grey Jay will market and distribute the product portfolio of Modern Meats plant-based meat products to its retail partners across Ontario.
