American Hispanic-owned food company Goya Foods is investing $80m to extend its manufacturing and distribution capacity at its facility in Brookshire, Texas.

Located on a 130-acre farm, the Brookshire facility serves as a hub for the manufacturing and distribution of Goya products in the West.

The company is purchasing new food processing equipment to double production capacity for meeting increased demand.

Goya said the investment supports the manufacture of its nutritious product line including extended organic offerings.

Goya Foods president and CEO Bob Unanue said: “Goya is committed to meeting increased consumer demand for our products from all consumers across the United States and abroad.

“We are grateful for the overwhelming support of the Goya brand and we are fortunate to be able to give back to communities around the globe donating millions of pounds of food through our Goya Gives program.”

Founded in 1936, Goya Foods manufactures, packages and distributes over 2,500 food products from Spain, the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America and South America.

In September 2017, Goya Foods expanded its North American processing centre in Brookshire, Texas with the addition of 324,000ft² of production warehouse, distribution warehouse, production office and auxiliary buildings.

Goya’s 130-acre campus includes features satellite buildings to house water pumps, boilers, processing, refrigeration equipment and hydrostatic cooking tower.

Other amenities at the campus include a technologically advanced test kitchen, quality control lab, dry bean room and a 17ft tall guard shack in the shape of a Goya can of beans.

In November 2016, Goya Foods opened a 240,000ft² sustainable production facility in Secaucus, New Jersey as part of a $250m investment.
