Ingredion has launched Ticaloid BD-2910 stabilizer system, which helps create thick, creamy drinking yogurts with a smooth mouthfeel. According to the company, this aligns with the demand for indulgence and addresses consumer expectations of what defines a high-quality drinking yogurt. The stabilizer system aims to achieve this desirability by delivering protein stability throughout the product’s shelf life.

The drinking experience is a critical factor that draws consumers to drinking yogurts. The right stabilizer system can assist manufacturers in satisfying this requirement. “In a segment with options aplenty, manufacturers have to pay attention to the finer details if they want to attract discerning consumers. This stabilizer system provides viscosity, which brings smoothness and creaminess to the end-product – not just texture and mouthfeel but also appearance as well,” states Anna Xu, the company’s Regional Growth Platform Leader Food Systems, Asia-Pacific.

“More people have been staying and eating at home since the COVID-19 pandemic. We have noticed that many have been purchasing drinking yogurts as they are perceived to be healthy. We want to help manufacturers differentiate their products with texture appeal, which enables an enjoyable drinking experience,” says Shue Peng Law, Director for Business Development and Marketing, ASEAN and India.

“This launch, which falls under our food systems portfolio, gives manufacturers more protein stability options. It leverages our expertise in combining the right ingredients for products with consistent, superior quality,” adds Xu.

Earlier this month, Ingredion launched three new organic native starches for the US and Canada at SHIFT20, IFT’s virtual showfloor. The unveiling of Purity Bio 201 organic native corn starch, Purity Bio 301 organic native tapioca starch and Purity Bio 805 organic native waxy rice starch comes as organic food sales continue to rise.

Meanwhile, in June, Ingredion launched Precisa Cream 7310 starch, a cold-water swelling starch, that delivers an instant thickening effect to a variety of oil- and water-based applications. Specifically, the starch is ideal for salad dressings and sauces, which have seen an increased demand in the region fueled by the rise in westernized diets and the demand for convenience at home.

The company also recently completed its rice manufacturing expansion in Banglen, Thailand. The move is part of the company’s ongoing investments to grow its specialty food ingredients business to support customers further globally and enhance its capabilities by expanding its rice production in Asia.
